Indoor Air Quality
Does your house have unpleasant odors you can’t get rid of? Allergies or Asthma?
A quick fix might be servicing your furnace filter, but often the problems still persist. Indoor air is often much more polluted than outside air, even in a city! If a home is not properly ventilated, even small toxins like mold, radon, carbon monoxide, and volatile organic compounds (VOC’s) found in many household products can build up to harmful levels.
Testing
The first step is to have your home tested. Our Indoor Air Quality Experts can assess toxin levels, find sources of pollution, and assess if your house is properly ventilated. Carbon monoxide testing is standard procedure, as well as testing any open combustion appliances in the home, including furnaces, water heaters, and stoves.
Air Sealing
Another very common cause of foul indoor air quality is significant air connection between your living space and a crawlspace. Sealing these gaps and cracks goes a long way to improving your indoor air quality. Weather stripping your crawlspace access hatch or door is the natural place to start.
Leaky Ducts
Another common culprit is your duct system. Ducts often run through the crawlspace or attic and are infamously leaky. Crawlspace or attic air can be pulled in through leaks in return ducts and circulated into your house! We can seal the ducts completely so that your indoor air never mingles with nasty crawlspace air.
